The Czech national team will take on Finland and Austria at the end of May and beginning of June respectively. Six Sparta players are included in Pavel Vrba’s squad this time.
The call-up is special for Pavel Kadeřábek and Lukáš Vácha, who were nominated for the first time in their career.
Apart from the two, Bořek Dočkal, Tomáš Vaclík, Josef Hušbauer and Ladislav Krejčí made the squad as well. David Lafata made only the reserves’ list. Zdeněk Svoboda is another part of the team, working as the assistant coach.
“Pavel Kadeřábek is currently the league’s best right back, the nomination is well deserved,” Vrba said, who also announced Vácha’s nomination right on his birthday. “It’s a sort of a birthday gift,” he laughed.
The Czech team face Finland on 21 May in Helsinki, then take on Austria on 3 June in Olomouc.
Best time of the career so far, the rookies say
Both Vácha and Kadeřábek are more than excited to become a part of the Czech football national team. Even though they have already played for youth squads, the first team call-up is special for them.
“Even though I had talked with the coach before the announcement, so it’s not a surprise for me, it’s still pretty awesome,” said Kadeřábek.
“I don’t have any experience with the coach. I guess we may well expect the same game style as in Sparta, but we’ll see what the philosophy will be like,” said Lukáš Vácha.
Both of them are going through some really exciting times in their careers. Excited about winning the Czech championship – also with the Cup final ahead – the nomination means another reward for an outstanding season.
“It’s definitely the greatest time of my career so far, this is exactly what I do football for,” said Vácha.
