Josef Šural in Sparta
On Monday morning, the tragic information about the the death of Josef Sural, which died in a bus accident in Turkey, hit all Spartans. He currently played in Alanyaspor, where he moved from Sparta in January this year. Remember Josef Šural as Spartan.
He started his engagement in Sparta on 13th January 2016. Sparta and Slavia both wanted the striker of Slovan Liberec, which scored five league goals during the autumn. Šural finally chose a red jersey. "Where else than in Sparta can a football player develop better? There are many internationals and the strongest team. I hope I wll stay here for a long time," said Šural after signing the contract at Letná.
In the spring part, he could not join to Sparta's great campaign to the quarterfinals of the Europa League because he played the same league in Liberec during the autumns. He played eight games until the end of the season and scored two goals. In the end of the season there was an injury that got him out for a long time.
In the following two years, Josef Šural played fifty-two matches in the league or cups and scored eighteen goals. Especially in the last year, which Sparta did not handle well overall, was one of the few team leaders. For example, in Jablonec he scored a hat-trick and in the spring home duel with Dukla he scored twice. He finished the last season with nine goals as the best Spartan shooter.
Before the start of the current season, he become the captain and was quite successful in the beginning of the season. He was very important player during the home match against Subotica, then he scored twice in Teplice, and by the beautiful free kick with Bohemians. But it was the last positive moments that Josef Šural added in a red jersey.
"I imagined my departure differently, but I would like to thank Sparta for everything. It was a great honour for me to wear a red jersey, in the club with such a tradition and history! Not everything was always by imagination but I was always proud to be part of Sparta and I always tried to do my best for the club! Thank you again, Sparta, I'll have you in my heart forever!" wrote Šural to the Instagram after moving to Alanyaspor.
We will also never forget you, Josef! Rest in peace, Pepa!
