"We are getting a national team member who brings more quality to the midfield. He likes to be actively involved in the combination and build-up phase and also in the defense. He is a high-quality executor of standard situations and reacts correctly after losing and winning the ball," said Sparta's sporting director Tomáš Rosický about the Finnish footballer.
Kairinen arrives in Sparta shortly before his 24th birthday, which he celebrates two days before Christmas Day. Since 2020 he was part of Lillestrøm, which plays Norwegian Eliteserien where he managed to play 71 games, scored six goals, and added 11 assists.
The Finnish midfielder comes from Inter Turku's academy, for which he made his debut at the age of 15 and became the second youngest player in the club's history. In the past, he also played for Midtjylland, Skive IK, and the most successful Finnish club HJK Helsinki.
Kaan was a member of all Finnish youth national teams. He played 19 matches with the U21 team, where he scored four goals. He then debuted for the senior national team in January 2019 in a friendly match against Sweden. He has played seven matches in the Finnish A-team so far.
His last team was Norwegian Lillestrøm, with whom he finished fourth in the Eliteserien. In 22 league games, he scored one goal and added three assists. He also added four starts in the European Conference League.
Kaan, welcome to Sparta!
