Over the past 40 years, we have managed to beat an English side in European competition just once – against Southampton in 2016. We were hoping to improve that record against Bournemouth, newcomers to UEFA competitions. After Lewis Cook missed a penalty, Ebrima Singhateh responded with a fantastic individual effort. However, Tobias Guddal was then shown a second yellow card, forcing our Norwegian centre-back off the pitch early. In the second half, the visitors capitalised on a mistake in our build-up, with USA international Tyler Adams finding the net. In the 80th minute, Brazilian striker Evanilson, another substitute, completed Bournemouth's comeback. Deep into stoppage time Rayan added a third to seal the victory for the visitors.
