Historical eras
Spartan history is admirably long. For better orientation we have divided it into seven eras, which are lined with successes, great players and unforgettable matches!
1893-1918: The birth of character
Every journey has its beginning and the Spartan one dates back to 16 November 1893.
1918-1926: The Iron Sparta
In the autumn of 1918 many Spartans returned from the war and with them the old fighting spirit.
1926-1944: European dominance
Sparta had an excellent team, which confirmed the great previous era by winning two Central European Cups. The end of this period was unfortunately disrupted by the war.
1944-1973: After the war ups and downs
The almost thirty-year period was very rich in various events for Sparta, both on the domestic and foreign scene.
1973-1990: Reflection from the bottom
After years full of success, a difficult period has come. An improvement occurred in the early 1980s and a permanent turnaround in the 1984-1990 seasons.
1990-2003: The Golden Era
Sparta spent the period at the turn of the millennium mostly in the spotlight.
2003-2024: Modern Sparta
While Sparta clearly dominated the domestic scene in the 1990s, this changed in the first years of the new millennium.
Legacy
The red jersey, the Letná stadium, the club logo or the name AC Sparta Prague itself. It probably seems to you that all these symbols have always been connected with Sparta. In reality, they have all evolved significantly since the time of our great-grandfathers.
Names
We all know our club as AC Sparta Prague. But the club has not always carried this name throughout its history.
Logos
As Sparta changed their names, logically the club logos had to change as well.
Jerseys
The red colour has always belonged to Sparta, one might say. But that's not quite true.
Stadiums
Letná Stadium is the stadium where Sparta has been based for decades. However, Sparta spent the first two decades elsewhere.
Sparta and culture
Books have been written about Sparta, songs have been composed, and Sparta has also appeared in movies!

Sparta deeply appreciates all footballers who have contributed to the glory and success of our club in the red jersey.

Spartan of the century
Andrej Kvašňák, one of the greatest personalities in the history of Sparta. He died of lung cancer in 2007.
