Sparta have signed a contract with Alexandru Chipciu. Twenty-nine-year-old footballer comes from Anderlecht Brussels for a one-year loan with options to buy. The right winger who may also be an alternative to the right defence joined the rest of the team in Austria already.
Chipciu enjoyed great years with Steaua Bucharest where he played between 2012 and 2016. He moved from Romania to Anderlecht just before Sparta played Steaua in summer 2016.
"He is an experienced and quality player who can help us with an immediate effect. He played the right defender against Bayern for example. Even in difficult matches, he showed that he can play in this position. We know him very well, he took our interest when we were preparing for Steaua in the past," Sparta's sports director Zdeněk Ščasný explains.
Chipciu played 36 matches in the national team including two matches at the European Championship 2016 in France.
He spent two seasons with Anderlecht and he played 67 games and scored six goals. He's now looking for a new challenge with Sparta: "I'm looking forward to playing at the Letná Stadium for the first time, the stadium impressed me already. I hope we will have a successful season. "
