“We are very pleased about the new relationship,” says Boris Liebing, responsible for women's soccer at Schalke. “Sparta Prague is not only a traditional European club with an international presence, but also a club that shares the same values and ambitions in women's soccer. In the near future, we would like to build a network of clubs that support each other and maintain an active exchange.”
At the beginning of February, a Schalke delegation visited the Czech capital. Boris Liebing was accompanied by two players of the Royal Blues representing all S04 women's and girls' teams. The guests from Gelsenkirchen were given an exclusive look behind the scenes of the Prague football club.
The aim of the relationship with Sparta Prague is to exchange knowledge and experience. Online meetings will enable the regular exchange given the fact that the distance between the two is around 700 kilometres. FC Schalke wants to benefit from international networking and external experience in order to promote the development of women's soccer.
The women of AC Sparta Prague play in the highest Czech league, the “FORTUNA=LIGA”, leading the table with twelve wins out of twelve games. In addition to the women's A team, ACS' commitment extends down to the U7s. The club from the Czech capital has a total of ten women's and girls' teams.
