Sparta were looking forward to the second leg of the Czech post cup semi-final, after a 1-1 away draw in Mladá Boleslav. However, things got complicated at the GENERALI Arena on Wednesday and Sparta have been eliminated after a 1-2 loss.
As usually in the cup, Sparta played with a bit different squad than in the league. Čech got his chance in the goal, as well as Pamić, Kadeřábek and Kweuke in the field. Two of them actually played a very important role in the match.
Sparta had a great start to the game, as Jiří Jarošík opened the score after a corner kick in the 2nd minute, but that was just one of two Sparta’s chances of the first half.
On the other side, Kúdela missed a huge chance from the six yard box, and his header went wide. Leo Kweuke could widen the gap, but his header was well saved by the away side’s goalkeeper Miller.
While the first half was not really entertaining for the audience, there was a lot of things going on in the second one. Leo Kweuke was sent off early after a sharp tackle on Dosoudil. Just a couple of minutes after, Bořil scored the equalizer, when his cross from the left went directly to the net.
Just two minutes later, Mladá Boleslav’s CB Johana was sent off for a tackle on Kadlec, and the forces were even.
The game-deciding moment came in the 69th minute. Marek Čech made a huge mistake whille making a pass from the goal. The pass was intercepted by Chramosta, who scored comfortably to secure the cup final for the away side.
