James Gomez is the fifth summer signing. Twenty-one years old player of the Gambian national team finished his transfer from Danish AC Horsens to Letná where he has signed a multi-year contract.
"James is a young talented player who at his age has already made fourteen starts for his country's senior national team," says AC Sparta Praha sports director Tomáš Rosický. "He is a player with physical qualities who has the ability to constructively establish an attacking phase. We see potential in him that we want to develop."
The tall defender left the Gambia, where he was part of a Real de Banjul Academy, and moved in 2020 to Northern Europe, namely to Denmark, where he wore the black&yellow Jersey of AC Horsens.
He went to Scandinavia on loan, but that changed after a year when he changed his contract to a permanent deal. In the same season, he also had his debut in the national team. Since that time he managed to play fourteen games in Gambia Jersey and score one goal. Currently, he and his teammates are fighting for room in the Africa Cup of Nations.
In the last two years, he became the stable player of the starting eleven. The last season didn't for him and his teammates end well. Horsens have been relegated from the Danish Superliga. Overall Gomez made 80 appearances in black&yellow Jersey which he combined with two goals.
Other ones he will now be going to add at Sparta. Welcome to the family, James!
