Kevin-Prince Milla joins Sparta

Cameroonian striker makes the move from Dukla Prague to Letná

Our next summer signing is Kevin-Prince Milla. The 21-year-old striker spent last spring on loan at Dukla Prague, who later activated the buyout clause from Austrian side Grazer AK. Now, the Cameroonian forward is heading to Letná. Kevin, we’re excited to see your performances in our shirt!
“Kevin is a powerful striker who can play with his back to goal, he's strong in duels and has excellent movement. He’s already experienced Czech football during his time at Dukla, so adapting should be easier for him. We believe he has the potential to grow further in our environment and show what he’s capable of,” says acting sporting director Tomáš Sivok.
Milla began his career at a small third-division club in Cameroon. At just 17, he was called up to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. Although he mostly came off the bench during Cameroon’s four matches, he still managed to score twice – including a goal against eventual champions Ghana, whose squad featured our centre-back Ivan Mensah.
Milla, who cites Samuel Eto’o and Vincent Aboubakar as his idols, made the move to Europe a few years later when Belgian club KAA Gent picked him up. Playing for their reserve team in the third division, he scored five goals in twelve matches.
These numbers caught the attention of Austrian second-tier side Grazer AK, who brought the young Cameroonian into their senior squad. GAK went on to win the league and earned promotion to the Austrian Bundesliga.
However, Milla didn’t make the cut for GAK’s top-flight squad, so he was loaned out to second-tier side Voitsberg, just west of Graz. He recorded three goals and one assist in thirteen competitive matches. After the winter break, he secured a loan move to Dukla Prague.
In Dukla’s colours, Milla scored three times during the spring – the most important coming in the 64th minute of the promotion/relegation playoff second leg against Vyškov. His goal tied the match at 1:1, and Dukla eventually secured survival in the top flight after a penalty shootout.
At the beginning of May, Dukla exercised their option to sign Milla permanently – and now, the striker makes the next big step in his career with a move to Sparta.
Kevin, best of luck in the most beautiful shirt!
