Our sixth summer signing is Sivert Mannsverk. The 23-year-old midfielder, who spent the last spring on loan at Championship side Cardiff City, joins Sparta from Ajax Amsterdam on a season-long loan. The deal also includes a purchase option. Welcome to Letná, Sivert!
“Sivert is a central midfielder with good awareness in both defense and offense, who maintains the team’s structure well. His profile makes him a good fit for our style of play. He had already caught our eye during his time at Molde, where he won the league title. In Norway, and later at Ajax, he played in a similar footballing philosophy to the one we want to present at Sparta,” said interim sporting director Tomáš Sivok.
A product of IL Jotun, Sivert made his first professional appearance at the age of 16 after moving through Årdalstangen to the Sogndal IL academy. Just two years later, he was already captaining the Norwegian second-tier side – a sign of his rapid rise in senior football.
His performances earned him a move in the summer of 2021 to Molde FK, then the runners-up in Norway’s top flight. He quickly became a regular starter on the coast and played a key role across three seasons. Each campaign with Molde brought silverware: the 2022 league title, plus two Norwegian Cup triumphs. In fact, Sivert scored the only goal in the first of the cup finals against Bodø/Glimt to secure the trophy.
From his usual position as a defensive midfielder, Mannsverk made 87 appearances for Molde, contributing eight goals and two assists. In the championship-winning season, he was also named Young Player of the Year for his breakthrough campaign.
In September 2023, Ajax came calling. An early injury sidelined him for several months, but by February 2024 he was back – marking his return with a goal against familiar rivals Bodø/Glimt to help Ajax reach the Conference League Round of 16. He maintained a steady place in the lineup at the start of the 2024/25 season, but another setback with an injury saw him miss much of the autumn. After recovering, he spent the second half of the campaign in Cardiff to gain more playing time.
On the international stage, Sivert received his first senior call-up in November 2022 for friendlies against Ireland and Finland, though he remained on the bench. He had been a regular with Norway’s U21s, where he lined up alongside Markus Solbakken, earning 12 caps and scoring twice. He also featured at the 2023 U21 European Championship in Georgia and Romania.
Sivert, we can’t wait to see you in out shirt!
