I can feel huge potential

The Norwegian midfielder joined Sparta in August and has already experienced both European competition and the Prague derby early in his spell at the club. In this in-depth interview, Sivert talks about his first impressions of Sparta, his teammates, and Prague, compares the facilities with those at Ajax, and shares his football ambitions as well as personal goals.
Sivert, you’ve spent your first weeks at Sparta. What kind of impression has the club made on you so far?
A really good one. I’m truly happy to be here. I’ve been impressed by the club’s overall professionalism, as well as the quality of the facilities, players, and staff. I see a lot of potential here, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
You mentioned the facilities. Strahov is often described as exceptional by local standards, and I assume Ajax wasn’t any different in that respect. Is there anything from Amsterdam that you miss here?
I was genuinely surprised by Strahov the first time I visited. We have everything a player needs for development and to maintain a professional level. The pitches are in excellent condition, and so are the gym and the entire training complex. Plus, we get great food. There are some differences in the details compared to Ajax’s training centre, but overall, they’re quite similar. It’s clear the club has invested a lot in medical and rehabilitation equipment too, which is important for me. I believe this will help me stay healthy and in top shape.
Have you had the chance to explore the city yet, despite the busy schedule?
Yes, Prague has really impressed me in a positive way. I thought nothing could compare to Amsterdam, but Prague is at least on the same level. I’m currently living in Smíchov, which is a great area close to the centre. I’m here on my own for now, so I’m happy there are plenty of places to go out and spend my free time. The city, the club, the people, the fans – everything just clicked from day one.
Have you found a favourite place in the city yet?
There’s a place close to my apartment where you can play darts, pool, or bowling. I like going there with friends or family. I’m a competitive person, so I enjoy these kinds of games. I recently visited a big entertainment centre with a restaurant, mini golf, and lots of games. I’ll definitely go there when the weather isn’t great. And I always enjoy going to the cinema. In general, I prefer not to spend all my free time at home. I like to get out and do things.
