Hugo Sochůrek enjoyed a rapid rise during the second half of last season, gaining his first experience with the first team. The Sparta academy graduate and member of the Czech national team squad for the upcoming World Cup has now signed a new long term contract with the club.
The recently turned eighteen year old midfielder began his football journey in his hometown of Tábor in southern Bohemia. He joined Sparta in 2020 at the age of twelve and signed his first professional contract with the club in March last year.
He first got a taste of first team football in January 2026, when he was included in Brian Priske’s squad for the training camp in Marbella. At the beginning of February, he made his league debut with a late appearance against Zlín. Hugo then made his first start at Letná on 15 March against Slovácko, playing the full ninety minutes. During the second half of the 2025/26 season, he featured in ten competitive matches, including his European debut in the home fixture against Alkmaar
His performances earned him a place in the Czech national team squad. At the end of May, Hugo played one half of an international friendly against Kosovo at Letná, becoming the youngest player ever to represent the Czech Republic. He is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup. Before travelling overseas, however, he put pen to paper on a new multi year contract with Sparta.
Congratulations on your new contract, Hugo!
