Like his new teammate Jonatan Brunes, Guddal developed his footballing skills at Bryne, where he arrived at the age of 18 after youth spells with Sveio Idrettslag and Djerv 1919. He made his professional debut shortly after joining the second-division side, but following a season and a half at the club, he spent two separate loan spells in Norway’s third tier.
After returning to Bryne, Guddal established himself as a regular starter while still only 21 years old. In September 2023, he was named Player of the Month in Norway’s second division. A move to the top flight soon followed, with Tromsø securing the services of the promising centre-back.
It did not take long for Guddal to cement his place in the starting line-up north of the Arctic Circle. However, his first season at Tromsø also brought a battle against relegation, with the club avoiding the play-off spot only on goal difference. The following campaign saw Tromsø return to the upper reaches of the table, largely thanks to a run of nine consecutive victories that included a win over Bodø/Glimt. Tobias’ performances also earned him his first call-up to the Norwegian national team.
During the current calendar year, Guddal featured in every competitive match played by Tromsø. Across 18 appearances, he received only two yellow cards. While his former club narrowly missed out on progressing to the next round of Europa League qualifying, Tromsø currently sit third in the Norwegian league standings.
