Matěj Jurásek is officially a Sparta player. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder joins us on loan from Norwich City, who compete in the Championship. The deal also includes an option to make the transfer permanent. Matěj, we wish you all the best at Sparta!
“We know Matěj very well and have been in contact with him during previous transfer windows. At just 22, he already has plenty of experience, including at international level and with Norwich. We anticipated that if Lukáš Haraslín were to leave, Matěj could be a player who would fit into our style immediately thanks to his profile and his ability in one-on-one situations,” says Tomáš Rosický.
“He is not afraid to take responsibility in the final third, where he is unpredictable, while also being able to change the tempo of the game. Like Adam Karabec, he benefited from his experience abroad despite not playing as regularly as he would have liked. He has developed both technically and physically. We believe he is a player who can continue to grow and help us win,” Sparta’s sporting director adds.
Jurásek was born in Karviná as the youngest of three siblings. While his brother took up combat sports and his sister pursued street dance, Matěj fell in love with football. He took his first steps with a ball at local club MFK Karviná before moving to Prague at the age of fifteen.
At Slavia, he made his professional debut and, thanks to two league appearances, became a league champion at just 17. He then gained experience on loan at Vlašim and later returned home to top-flight Karviná. Then, he returned to become part of Slavia’s first-team rotation.
The former Czech youth international made the final squad for the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, where the Czech team were eliminated in the group stage. A year later, Jurásek was also part of the senior squad at EURO 2024, featuring in the group-stage matches against Georgia and Turkey.
In January 2025, the time came for a new challenge. Jurásek moved to England in search of more regular playing time, joining Norwich City, who were 11th in the Championship at the time. He made 22 competitive appearances for the Canaries, recording one goal and two assists.
Welcome, Matěj!
