Against Trabzonspor in qualifying of EL
Sparta will face Trabzonspor in 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. The first game against the fourth team of last season Turkish League will be played at Letná on Thursday 8th August without fans because of a penalty from the UEFA Disciplinary Body. This also applies to away fans. The second match is coming one week later in Turkey.
“It’s of the most difficult teams in my point of view. Trabzonspor is the fourth team in the last season of Turkish league and fought for the title until the end with first three teams. So it is enough about their quality.” said head coach Václav Jílek.
Trabzonspor is a six-time Turkish league champion. They won the highest competition in the 2010/11 season for the last time. They added eight victories in the Turkish Cup.
Last season Trabzonspor finished fourth. This league season in Turkey starts on 18th August. Filip Novák, Czech national team defender, or former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel are part of Trabzonspor.
“It's probably the hardest possible opponent. But if we want to play the Europa League, we have to beat everyone. We will do everything for it,” says Matěj Hanousek before the double-match with Turkish team.
