Look out, this is a real offensive threat! Sparta Prague sign the league’s top scorer from the past two seasons, 31 years old David Lafata.
David Lafata had no real competition in the top scorers‘ table last two seasons nd was the biggest reason his previous team, FK Jablonec, competed for the top spots in the Czech first division. Lafata was expected to sign with Sparta half a year ago before the season had started, but the negotiations between Sparta and Jablonec failed.
„It’s always been my dream to play for Sparta, I just couldn’t say no,“ admitted Lafata, who signed a contract for 3,5 years on Friday. On the same day he joined the team for his first training session.
While playing for Jablonec, David Lafata has always been one of the most dangerous attackers in the Czech league and the club’s representative, board member Jakub Otava believes, this will remain unchanged in the future. „Signing David was one of our priorities and we’re happy to have him here and to have our roster complete ahead of the first training camp next week,“ said Otava.
