David Lafata will retire at the end of the season

Club captain David Lafata will end his professional career at the end of the current campaign

David Lafata whose contract will expire at the end of the 2017/2018 season decided to end his professional career. David Lafata moved to Sparta from Jablonec in January 2013 and he scored 83 league goals since his move to Prague and 23 goals in European cups.
Thirty-six years old striker moved to Sparta from Jablonec. He scored his first competitive goal in the Europa League match against Chelsea FC at the Stamford Bridge and a couple of days later he scored his first two league goals in Sparta jersey against České Budějovice, his boyhood club.
David Lafata became a club captain soon and he helped to win “treble” during the 2013/2014 season. “The number 21” man was the best league goalscorer six times.
“I would like to end all the rumours. I decided to end my career after this season,” says David Lafata in the official statement.
“We have three very important matches until the end of the season including the last home match against Sigma Olomouc. That will be my last match at Letná as a Sparta player and I would like to say goodbye to all Sparta fans during and after this match.”
This match will be played on Saturday, May 19th with a kick-off at 16:00 CET.
