First Team Coaching Staff

Structure of Brian Priske’s new staff

Sparta’s first team enters the 2025/26 pre-season not only with a new head coach, Brian Priske, but also with several changes to the backroom staff.
Stephen Foyston, the former lead analyst, and data analyst Kirk Phillips are leaving the club. We thank both for their dedication, hard work, and contributions throughout the past seasons.
Diarmuid O’Carroll has been appointed as the new first assistant to the head coach. The 38-year-old Irishman joins Sparta from the Newcastle United Academy, where he led the U21 team. Two years ago, he also became an assistant coach with the Northern Ireland national team.
Ian Coll has taken over as Head of Physical Performance, replacing Christian Clarup. The 44-year-old Scotsman was introduced last week. His previous experience includes spells at Hajduk Split, Ludogorets Razgrad, and Celtic Glasgow, where he celebrated three league titles and gained experience in both the Champions League and Europa League group stages.
Set pieces will now be overseen by Jack Wilson. The Scottish set-piece specialist spent two years at Manchester City as an analyst focusing specifically on this area of the game. He also gained valuable experience at Brentford, with the Northern Ireland national team, and most recently worked at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he was responsible for preparing set pieces for the Premier League side.
Assistant coach Lukas Babalola returns to Letná. He was already part of Sparta’s coaching staff during the 2023/24 season, in which the club secured a domestic double. After that success, he followed Brian Priske to Feyenoord Rotterdam – now, he rejoins Sparta’s first team.
Michal Vávra returns to his role as development coach. Joining the first team from the B-team staff are fitness coach Radek Říha, physiotherapist Ferdia Fallon Verbruggen, and sports scientist Ciaran O’Reilly, who arrived at Strahov this past winter after previous stints with Midtjylland and Dundalk.
