A new captain with a new contract. Lukáš Haraslín will continue to bring joy in our shirt — he has signed a new long-term deal with Sparta. Šulo, congratulations and we can’t wait for the new season!
"I'm really happy to have signed a new contract with the club. After such a long time, we managed to win the title again, complete the double, and as the cherry on top, qualify for the Champions League — a dream come true. I still get goosebumps thinking about it. We'll do everything we can to make it happen again," said Haraslín shortly after signing.
The 29-year-old Slovak international initially joined Sparta on loan from Italian side Sassuolo at the end of August 2021. With his performances, he quickly won over the fans and established himself as a key figure in the team. One of the early highlights was his stunning free-kick goal against Slavia in October 2021. Just seven months later, he became a permanent Sparta player.
In the 2022/23 season, Šulo helped Sparta claim their 37th league title. A year later, he formed a dominant trio alongside Jan Kuchta and Veljko Birmančević — a combination that ruled Czech football. Together, they celebrated a domestic double, lifting both the league and the cup trophies.
Haraslín also played a major role in our long-awaited return to the Champions League after nineteen years. In the first leg of the play-off against Malmö, Birmančević’s shot deflected off his leg and then off defender Stryger Larsen into the net. The second leg belonged to the Slovak winger — although his first goal was ruled out for offside, he calmly converted a penalty and later set up Albion Rrahmani for a crucial goal.
So far, Haraslín has made 150 competitive appearances for Sparta, scoring 44 goals and providing 29 assists. After four years in our jersey, he now takes on the captain’s armband.
Šulo, best of luck in your new role!
