Turkish defender Semih Kaya becomes a new summer signing, completing his move from Galatasaray Istanbul. He signed a 3-year deal at Letná.
„It’s very the important step in my life and football career as well. I and my wife are very excited to be here and we’re looking forward to discovering the new town and new people,“ said Semih.
Kaya joined Galatasaray’s Academy from Altay when he was 15 and he started to play for Galatasaray’s first team in 2009. He then left for two loan spells with Gazientepspor and Kartalspor.
He played more than one hundred league games during his time with Galatasaray and he won the league title four times and also won domestic cup three times and super cup five times.
During the 2011/2012 season, he was voted Best Young Player of the season and he played with the former Czech international player Tomáš Ujfaluši in this season.
Kaya played for every Turkish youth national team from U15 to U21 and during the 2012 – 2015 he made 23 appearances for Turkish senior national team as well.
„It was not easy to leave Galatasaray. I spend a lot of time in this club and it was hard to say goodbye to the club and my teammates. But that’s life of all of us footballers and I hope this new chapter will be successful.“
„I won many trophies with Galatasaray, I played a lot of difficult and beautiful matches. Sparta is an ambitious club and most successful club in the Czech Republic and I want to win trophies there same as with Galatasaray.“
