Sparta will play the last pre-season before start of the spring part of FORTUNA:LIGA. Our rival will be the new Swedish vice-champion Malmö FF. You can watch live from 3:30 PM at https://live.sparta.cz/. After the match both teams will continue with 45 minutes long training game.
Andreas Vindheim came to Sparta from Malmö during last summer. “It will be a special game against Malmö, even if it's just a friendly. I have an extra motivation. ”
The Swedish league is played by the spring-autumn system and offered a dramatic 2019th season. Malmö fought for the title until the last round. But needed the loss of the leading Djurgarden. It did not happen and Malmö was missed one point to the crown. Especially the defeat with the third Hammarby three laps before the end is a pity. Malmö has lost only two other league games during the season. In the end, however, Malmö could end third. Hammarby had the same 65 points.
Malmö was also successful on the European scene, when got to the group from first qualifying round. Malmö then won group that Malmö won before FC Copenhagen, Dynamo Kyiv and Lugano. In the spring, Malmö face Wolfsburg.
Sparta met Malmö recently and it's not a nice memory. We won 4-2 at home in the qualifying round to the Champions League in the 2014/15 season, but then lost 0-2 away.
Thirty-six-year-old Czech Dušan Melichárek plays the role of a substitute goalkeeper in the club. Markus Rosenberg which scored 13 goals in the league and eight in the Europa League ended his career after the season.
From the current team, Guillermo Molins and Sören Rieks scored the most goals. Molins hit six times in the league and four times in the Europa League. Rieks scored nine goals in the league and one in the EL. An interesting player is Arnor Traustaso from Iceland which played at EURO 2016 and World Cup 2018. The head coach is Danish legendary shooter and two-time winner of the Champions League John Dahl Tomasson.
