It was a great déja-vu. Just like in the 03/04 season, Sparta played an even game with Chelsea, but lost by a single goal, scored in the final minutes of the match.
Sparta were missing their tom CB Jiří Jarošík, but Mario Holek filled the gap well and played one of his best games in a Sparta jersey. Matěj Hybš as a left back in the starting line-up was also a surprise, but his display was fine as well.
You could not tell which team was the favourite in the first half. Fast pace, lot of quick breakaways and a couple of chances on both sides were making the fans excited.
Hazard missed the goal from a sharp angle, while Lafata, on the other side, unsuccessfully tried to finish Zápotočný's cross from the right side. Sparta were more dangerous in the final minutes of the first half, but could not score the opening goal.
The display of the home side was much different in the second half. Chelsea have focused more on the defence and it began much more difficult for Lavička's team to find their way into the box.
Kweuke and Lampard missed their chances, and it was Oscar to score the game-deciding goal. Only a couple of seconds after he went on, he came through the home team's defence and finished comfortably. 0-1.
