Joeri Heerkens is leaving to Ajax Amsterdam. The 19-year-old goalkeeper, who lifted the U19 EURO trophy with the Netherlands this summer, played fifteen second-division matches for our B-team. Good luck in Amsterdam, Joeri!
Joeri, who holds Dutch nationality, took his first footballing steps in Broumov. At the age of twelve, he moved to Náchod and a year later joined the Hradec Králové academy. From there, he made his way to our U17 squad.
Step by step, Joeri progressed to the reserve team. Before making his competitive debut, he spent the spring of 2024 on loan at Loko Praha. He made his first official appearance for the B-team in August and kept a clean sheet in a 4–0 win over Jihlava.
In total, he played fifteen matches last season, impressing especially in the spring part when he conceded just one goal in six consecutive games. Toward the end of the season, he was called up to the A-team bench and took part in preseason with the first squad.
This June, he celebrated a major milestone with the Netherlands U19 team by winning the European Championship in Romania. Joeri played every minute of the tournament, stopping all six Spanish efforts in the final. He was named in the Team of the Tournament. Now, Joeri is making the move to Ajax’s first team.
All the best in your next chapter, Joeri!
