Sparta lost their first match in the Europa League group stage after a tough battle in Lyon, France. The home team was more dangerous during the whole match and deserved the three points for a 2-1 win.
Sparta were still missing Marek Matějovský, who is still having problems with his ankle. Suprisingly, Ladislav Krejčí was also amongst the substitutes, while Tomáš Přikryl played the left winger this time.
Olympique stared the match off with a series of big chances, but struggled in the final phase. Gomis fired wide after Lacazette’s pass, and failed to put the ball through Vaclík twice, just a couple of minutes after that.
At the end of the half, Olympique’s Mouhamadou Dabo was injured after an unlucky hit by Kadeřábek and had to be carried off the pitch unconscious.
Lyonhave started the second half off with a massive pressure, that ended up in a first goal after 59 minutes of play. Gomis, who had problems with finishing this evening, headed in a cross from the left side – 1-0.
Just three minutes after that, Gonalons rushed the box and found Lisandro unmarked in front – 2-0.
But Sparta have not given up and scored an important goal in the 77th minute. Kadlec crossed the ball from the right and Ladislav Krejčí, who had gone on just a few minutes before, beat Vercoutre – 2-1.
Sparta put the home team under a pressure in the final minutes of the game, but did not manage to score. Olympique Lyonnais defeated Sparta 2-1.
