Angelo Preciado bids farewell

Ecuador international completes move to Brazil’s Atlético Mineiro

Angelo Preciado is heading to Brazil’s top flight, where he will now wear the colours of Atlético Mineiro. During two and a half seasons at Sparta, the Ecuador international celebrated a league and cup double as well as qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Muchas gracias, amigo!
Preciado arrived at Letná in September 2023, shortly before the transfer window closed. He quickly returned to South America for World Cup qualifying matches before making his debut in our shirt in a 5:0 win over Slovácko.
In the 2023/24 season, he stood out in particular with his performances in the Europa League. His two goals in the tie against Galatasaray, which helped Sparta advance to the round of 16, will remain unforgettable.
The ever-smiling Ecuadorian also showed his fiery side at times. Towards the end of the season, he was sent off on two occasions. After serving his enforced suspensions, however, he returned in time for the championship round matches and the domestic cup final, eventually celebrating the league title and cup triumph with his teammates. He was also called up for the Copa América, where Ecuador reached the quarterfinals.
Unfortunately, Angelo spent much of the previous season sidelined through injury. Although he started the first three matches of the Champions League league phase, he was then forced to undergo meniscus surgery at a medical facility abroad. He did not return to league action until May of last year.
During the autumn, Angelo was a regular starter, rotating in his position with Sparta academy graduate Pavel Kadeřábek. His only goal of the autumn secured a narrow away victory at Legia Warsaw. Overall, Angelo made 67 competitive appearances for Sparta, scoring four goals and providing sixteen assists.
Angelo, thank you for your performances in the red shirt. Best of luck in Brazil!
