Statement from the club’s management on the changes
“We have had one of Sparta’s worst starts to a league season in a long time, and it falls far short of what our fans and we ourselves expect from Sparta. We all bear responsibility for this – the management, coaching staff and players. In response to the results and performances, we are making changes to the coaching staff and expect a rapid improvement. We will assess the situation and decide on further steps accordingly,” says Executive Vice-Chairman of the Board František Čupr.
“I would like to thank Ian and Jack for their work and the commitment they showed during their time at Sparta. Our start to the season has not gone well at all, either in terms of results or performances, and we need to give the team a new impulse. I am convinced that we have a very strong group of players whose full potential we have not yet managed to unlock. It is now up to all of us to prove that on the pitch,” says Sporting Director Tomáš Rosický.
Ian Coll and Jack Wilson’s time at Sparta
Ian Coll and Jack Wilson joined the coaching staff in June 2025 following Brian Priske’s return as Sparta’s head coach. The 46-year-old Coll had previously worked at Hajduk Split, Ludogorets Razgrad and Celtic, where he won three league titles.
The soon-to-be 30-year-old Wilson previously worked as an analyst at Manchester City, specialising in set pieces. He also gained experience at Brentford, with the Northern Ireland national team and at Wolverhampton, where he was responsible for set-piece preparation.
During their time at Sparta, the Scottish duo helped the team finish second in the top-flight table last season. In the UEFA Conference League league phase, the first team also finished among the top eight, securing direct qualification for the round of 16, where Sparta were eliminated by AZ.
