The club has released Tomáš Čvančara to Borussia Mönchengladbach on exceptional economic terms. The 22-year-old striker scored 24 competitive goals in a year and a half at Sparta and contributed to winning the league title. Thank you for everything and good luck in Germany!
Tomáš Čvančara has grown up in the Strahov Academy. He returned to Sparta in January 2022, when he came to Letná from Jablonec, and almost immediately started to collect goals.
He made his first league start in a red jersey on February 13 at Letná, where he started the second half of the match against Viktoria Plzeň in an unfavourable situation and helped to win a point for the draw. In the following match, he also added a point to his personal statistics, scoring one goal in the win in Zlín.
Paradoxically, Tomáš did best in the first half of the year against his former employer from Jablonec. He first scored two goals in the cup and a week later he scored another in the league. In seventeen matches he eventually opened the net nine times and added one assist. The goal that ended the 2021/2022 league season was one of the sweetest as it contributed to the 303rd derby win.
After a turbulent start in the last season, Čvančara, along with his teammates Kuchta and Haraslín, formed a fearsome attacking trident that put fear into the opponents.
The successful performances earned all three of them an invitation to the national team, which for Tomáš marked his debut in the national first team. The debut was indeed a dream come true, as Čvančara and Kuchta, substitued by Ladislav Krejčí, decided a sensational 3-1 victory over Poland with their goals.
He was a big part of the fabulous finish to the season. In the last games, he was unable to be on the pitch but slowed down by an injury. With fifteen goals and three assists in twenty-eight competitive matches, he contributed to winning his 37th league title. Now he is moving to the German Bundesliga for a new challenge.
Čváňa, thank you for everything and we wish you the best of luck!
