Coach Zdeněk Ščasný made two changes in the squad after the match against Baník. Dominik Plechatý replaced booked Štetina and Václav Drchal replaced Tetteh.
Slovan held the ball more during the first half, but Sparta nor Liberec were able to get the chance. The only one was after Karafiát's free kick in the 30th minute. Nita performed a great save.
The second half started without a change and the game did not change much. Sparta took over the initiative and tried to combine.
In the 57th minute Dočkal played a free kick and found Costa in the box. Costa headed to the post and the ball bounced into the net!
Another chance for Drchal. He went into the opened defence of Liberec but the ball ended out of the goal.
The critical moment for Sparta came ten minutes before the end. Zahustel held Kozák in the box and Franek judged the penalty after consulting with the VAR. Kozák himself played the penalty but Florin Nita was ready again!
No more opportunities in the rest of the match. Sparta won in Liberec after seven years!
