AC Sparta Prague chief scout Tomáš Požár has been named the new sports director on Monday, and will fully accept his new role during the winter break, when the new team manager is named. Choosing the new coaching staff is currently his main task.
„We believe Tomáš will be a great benefit for the club. He used to be a Sparta player, he’s an expert, he has deserved a lot of respect in Czech football and has a lot of experience with training as well as managing a top division club. Having worked as the club’s chief scout, he has a great knowledge of players both in the Czech top division and abroad. He fits all the expectations to be successful,“ says the club’s general manager Adam Kotalík.
31-year-old Požár had played for Sparta, Jablonec and Teplice during his active career. He played seventeen league matches for Sparta between 1994 and 1996 and won the Czech title in his first season at Letná.
From 1996 to 2001 he played for Jablonec and also spent some time on loan in Teplice. After retiring, he was a youth coach, then he became a sports director at Bohemians Praha 1905. In summer 2015 he became a chief scout for Sparta.
