Home debut for the new manager Zdeněk Ščasný was a success – David Lafata scored a hattrick, while Pavel Kadeřábek celebrated his return to the line-up with three assists.
Kadeřábek was out of play for six long weeks, and he finally returned to the starting eleven, as well as Václav Kadlec, who also recovered from his minor knee injury. Lukáš Vácha was out of play due to four yellow cards, and had to be replaced by Lukáš Mareček in the midfield.
It took Sparta some time to get things going, but after 17 minutes of play, they finally opened the score. Costa fired after a corner kick, and David Lafata deflected the ball to the net.
A couple of minutes later, the captain could score his second of the day, but he shot the ball just wide after a nice cross by Dočkal. However, he did not need to be sad, as it took him a shot while to add his second goal. Kadeřábek returned a cross back to the box and Lafata made no mistake.
Bořek Dočkal added Sparta’s third strike in the second half, firing from 20 metres and putting the ball right next to the goalpost.
Ten minutes later, Lafata finished his hattrick. After another brilliant pass by Kadeřábek, he had an easy task and hit the empty net to give Sparta a 4-0 lead.
Jugas failed from a breakaway in the only Brno’s chance of the match, as Štěch made a good save, and Sparta defeated Brno comfortably, 4-0.
