First part of the season is not over yet and Sparta are delighted to announce the first signing. Ondřej Mazuch, who has been training with the squad since summer, signed a contract for 4,5 years, valid through the 2019-2020 season.
“Ondřej is in the ideal age and I believe there were not many players with such experience coming back to the Czech top division in the past. After some health-related issues he can't wait to be back on the pitch and he can become one of the key players not only for upcoming matches in the Europa league,” said the player's agent Viktor Kolář from SPORT INVEST International.
Native from Hodonín started his professional career in Brno, drawing attention of a number of big European clubs. Leverkusen was the successful candidate, but agreed to leave Mazuch in Brno on loan.
After a short spell in Fiorentina, Mazuch left on loan to Anderlecht, who applied the option and finished Mazuch’s transfer to Belgium a year after. Mazuch spent the last three years at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, but had to terminate his contract in Ukraine after a knee injury, from which he’s been recovering together with his new teammates since summer at Sparta.
Mazuch had been a regular national team player, winning a number of medals at youth tournaments. He finished second with Czech U17 at Euro 2006 and third with the Czech U19 a year after. Same year, he was a part of Czech U20 squad and won silver medal at the U20 World championship. Mazuch also played 26 matches for Czech U21 and four matches for Czech senior national team.
