Third straight win in the group stage! Sparta put on a brilliant defensive performance once again and after another win over Hapoel they lead the table with nine points.
There was one more injury before the match, as Václav Kadlec could not recover in time and was missing in the attack.
Hapoel had the first big chance of the match, as the ball from a corner kick got to Miguel Vítor, but Tomáš Koubek did a great job and made his first big save. However, it was all about Sparta after that.
In the 23rd minute, Bořek Dočkal crossed the ball from a free kick and Bitton redirected it into his own net. Shortly before the break, Dočkal found Lafata with a brilliant cross and the captain made no mistake.
As well as in Israel two weeks ago, Sparta were almost perfect in the defence and Hapoel had a tought time creating chances. On the other side, Juliš, Mareček and Dudl were not that far from adding another goal with their chances.
Hapoel’s only chance of the second half came shortly before the final whistle, as Ben Sahar’s shot from an angle bounced off the post. There was no change of score until the end, Sparta won their third straight match in the Europa League group stage and remained in the lead.
